According to a new study,by UC Berkeley scientists,Pine bark extract could help people with mild knee arthritis.Pine bark extract combines antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties,it was made from French maritime pine tree.According to this study,people who took the pine bark extract for three months,were suffering less,and those who were given the placebo had no improvement.Two weeks after they stopped taking the extract,the patients pain lessened.Pine bark extract is marketed under the brand-name Pycnogenol.Dr. Peter Rohdewald,of the University of Munster in Germany and the study’s senior author told Reuters:
“Our study doesn’t show evidence for this, but I do speculate that Pycnogenol has a more lasting effect on the joints, further to mere pain management as with NSAIDs.”
